The amla fruit, often praised in Ayurveda as the "fruit of youth and beauty," is an important rasayana. Although this designation has not been scientifically confirmed, it has great significance in Ayurveda. Its taste and appearance are reminiscent of the common gooseberry, which is why it is also known as the "Indian gooseberry."
